Privacy

This is a free, unofficial reference site for The Lord of the Rings Online. It has no accounts, no forms, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking. This page explains the small amount of personal data involved in showing it to you, as required by the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who runs the site

The site is run by an individual, known on GitHub as eorlthain. For any question about this page or your data, open an issue at github.com/eorlthain/lotro-skill-effects/issues. Please do not post personal details in a public issue - say that you have a privacy request and a private way to continue will be arranged.

What this site collects

Nothing, itself. The pages are static files. Searching, filtering and the "Your character" boxes all run inside your browser; what you type is never sent anywhere and is forgotten when you close or reload the page.

No cookies are set.
Nothing is saved in your browser's local storage, session storage or similar. (Earlier versions saved your chosen level there; the site now deletes that old entry if it finds one, and stores nothing in its place.)
No analytics, advertising, social media or tracking scripts are used.
Fonts, icons and game data are all loaded from this site - there are no requests to Google Fonts or any other third-party service.

Because nothing non-essential is stored on your device, the site does not need, and does not show, a cookie consent banner.

Hosting: Cloudflare

The site, at eorlthain.com and icons.eorlthain.com, is hosted on Cloudflare, run by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic request details (such as the page requested, time, browser type and referring page) when your browser loads a page. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse, and may keep it in its logs for a limited time. The site's owner does not use Cloudflare's analytics features and does not look up individual visitors.

Purpose: delivering the pages you ask for and protecting the service from abuse.
Legal basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in making the site available and keeping it secure.
International transfers: Cloudflare runs a global network and may process this data in the United States and elsewhere. How Cloudflare protects it, and how long it is kept, is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

The source of the site is kept on GitHub. Old addresses at eorlthain.github.io forward to eorlthain.com, so GitHub may also see the request details above if you follow an old link.

Links to other sites

The site links to the Fridge Discord server and to GitHub. Nothing is sent to either unless you click the link; once you do, their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or erase personal data about you, to restrict or object to its use, and to data portability. This site holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing for the owner to hand over or delete; requests about Cloudflare's server logs are best sent to Cloudflare, using the contact details in their privacy policy. You can still contact the owner as described above.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority - in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, or in the EU, the authority in the country where you live.

No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.

Changes

If the site ever starts collecting anything - for example analytics - this page will be updated before that happens, and the date at the top will change.

Unofficial fan site

Every number, name, icon and description on this site was read from a local installation of the Lord of the Rings Online game client. The Lord of the Rings Online is a trademark of Standing Stone Games LLC, and the game data and icons are their copyright. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Standing Stone Games or Middle-earth Enterprises.

The Cinzel typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License (fonts/OFL.txt).
